After the cinnamon, ice-bucket, charlie charlie, Kylie Jenner Challenge and whatever was popular between those, I didn't think that I will get surprised by stupidity of teenagers on you-tube anymore. Little did I know there was a brand new "challenge" coming to existence. The challenge is basically a selfie video, where the participants record themselves with some heavy makeup and just looking as unattractive as possible, which transitions into another selfie video where the same person looks fit and smoking hot, dressed in fancy clothes etc. |
I admit, on the first sight the concept of the #Dontjudgechallenge looks like a good thing. Raising awareness of body shaming problem and telling people that they are beautiful is always a proper thing to do, isn't it? The only problem is the way that those people are doing it, which makes me cringe. I even think that the only thing that is challenged there are those teenagers themselves.
| I just don't get how putting glasses on, making a silly hairdo and painting acne or a mono-brow on my face can help anyone to be more tolerant and make them stop judging others for their appearance. To hell with that! What I really don't get is why the second part of the video is the same people showing their faces without all that "ugly" makeover. Wow! You look so beautiful now. God damn, if only the poor girls who are covered with pimples and adolescent boys with mono-brow knew that covering the lens of camera with your hand will magically fix all their problems! |
In my opinion the whole don't judge me challenge is exactly the opposite of what it is supposed to represent. Those guys are mocking their peers who have skin problem or have to put those stupid glasses on every morning because, surprise surprise, they can't see shit without it.
Applying the same logic, maybe we should promote awareness of eating disorders by showing people acting like they are puking out they dinner and then saying "Just kidding, I am skinny!" or maybe show supportive for homosexuals by making videos of gay bashing?
Why instead of #Dontjudgechallenge can't we just be decent human beings? Let's Just not be assholes and at the end of the day the world will be a better place.
